March 2021 Bullet Journal Set Up - Little Black Cats!

Inspired by my fluffy boy Mitsu, March 2021 is all about kitties in my bullet journal! I’ve been a cat lover since childhood, when a stray black cat adopted my family and stayed for the next 20 years. I’ve been lucky to have kitties in my life ever since.

This layout isn’t too far off February’s, but with two big additions - mood and sleep trackers! These have been bullet journal staples for many people for years, but it’s my first time including either of them in my own journal. I once swore I’d never include a sleep tracker, since my Fitbit does that for me, but I’m actively trying to change my sleep habits at the moment so having a visual representation is a big help!

Autumn Bujo Vibes

Yellow and orange are not my usual go-to colours, but as March is the beginning of Autumn here in the Southern Hemisphere, they seemed the way to go this month! As I was setting up I realised this would make a great Halloween layout too!

Pages in this Bullet Journal Layout:

March 2021 calendar - these calendar boxes are 5 spaces by 5 spaces, with an extra space between each row for the number.

Gratitude and skincare tracker - A few grateful words each day down the left column, and a dot in the space for each of my habits. In previous months I’ve had the habits section divided into habits and skincare, but I’ve consolidated it into one general habits section this time.

Goals page - I’ve been including a monthly goals page for two months now - this will be the third. It helps me stay on track for my yearly goals, and set a focus for the month - I definitely recommend it!

Expense tracker - every cent I spend in the month, I’ll write down here. On the last day of each month I tally up the total spent across each category, and transfer it back into my overall 2021 spending tracker at the beginning of my notebook.

Mood tracker - I love the creativity of these pages! I’d been seeing lots of them on Instagram and wanted to give one a go! I’ve set mine up as a wall - each day I’ll colour in the brick with the corresponding number in the colour that best reflects how I’m feeling that day. Of course, a few kitties are keen to sit on the wall!

Sleep tracker - I’m really finding my way on this one, in my quest to sleep earlier and wake up earlier! Along the top is an hour axis, and down the left side is the date axis. Each day I’ll use one of my brush pens to add a line from the time I fell asleep to the time I woke up. I’m looking forward to seeing how my sleeping habits track over the month!

Weekly spreads - I like to keep whole weeks - Monday to Sunday - together. I typically spend more time in my office doing admin tasks from Monday to Wednesday, so I’ve given them a little more space on the left page. Thursday to Sunday are a bit smaller on the right page - those are the days I’m more likely to be out of my office and working on location! Each day gets its very own kitty silhouette at the top!

Bujo Supplies I Used:

I’m using a Notebook Therapy Pastel edition Tsuki bullet journal in Mint Matcha for my 2021 journal (at least for the first half of the year)
The bold black lines and heading lettering was done with the not-brush end of the black Tombow dual brush pen*
The three oranges are Faber Castell Pitt Artist brush pens* in orange glaze 113, dark chrome yellow 109 and cadmium yellow 107. That link will take you to a set of 12 pens with similar colours.
I’ve used a Sharpie pen* for all my fineliner needs in this layout!
