June 2021 Bullet Journal: Art Deco, Darling
The winter months had me feeling fancy! My Art Deco layout was so much fun, if a little frustrating, to set up - you need to be very careful when manoeuvring your ruler when working with metallics and gel pens to avoid smudges!
The majority of my layout is actually the same set up as it was in May - just a little more opulent.
How To: Art Deco Bullet Journal Theme
The trick to executing an Art Deco design is to vary your line weight. I used two different gold metallic pens - one marker and one gel - to get the thick-and-thin variety in my borders. I also had a great time dressing up my table to shoot these photos!
Pages & Spreads in this Bujo Layout:
June 2021 calendar page - this is the same layout as my May setup, but with more razzle-dazzle! I Googled “Art Deco borders” and used some of the simpler results as inspiration.
Goals page - I’ll admit I’m not overjoyed with my lettering efforts on this page - the font I chose was way too precise to pull off freehand!
Gratitude log - I swear it’s a gratitude log - it just doesn’t have space for a header! Each day gets two half-lines of grateful goodness.
Habit tracker - I usually set up my habit trackers so that I have to turn the book sideways to use them, but I wanted to keep to a portrait oriented page this time - AND keep it to a single page. I’ve used this layout in the past and I do like it, but it requires writing a lot of numbers so it can result in a cramped hand! Beware!
Sleep tracker - Not much has changed since last month’s sleep tracker, but I wanted to keep the decorations small - there wasn’t enough room for a full border! They look a little more steampunk than Art Deco but I’ll roll with it!
Expense tracker - This page ends up very busy once it’s filled in, so I like to keep my decorations minimal. I’ll write down all my expenses here, then tally up the month’s totals across each category and transfer those totals back into my overall 2021 spending tracker at the start of my book.
Weekly spreads - Again, it’s May but swankier! I’ve borrowed the diamond decoration from my calendar page and given one to each day of the week on one side of the page, then boxed off my running to-do list for the other side of the page.
Stationery & Supplies I Used:
I’m using a Notebook Therapy Pastel edition Tsuki bullet journal in Mint Matcha for my 2021 journal (at least for the first half of the year)
The bold gold lines and heading lettering was done with a gold Sharpie* - that link will take you to a two-pack with a silver one too!
The green accents are the Faber Castell Pitt Artist brush pen in *permanent green olive 167 - I wanted a much deeper green but this was the closest I had without having to buy a new pen!
I’ve used Bic Intensity fineliners* for all my fineliner needs in this layout.
