Starting a New Bullet Journal Mid-Year

There’s not much better than starting a fresh notebook - I’m sure my fellow stationery enthusiasts would agree! The end of July left me with only a few pages left in my journal - not quite enough for a whole monthly layout. That means I’m moving into a fresh book, and a fresh book means a fresh beginning-of-book setup!

Which Dotted Journal am I Using?

My new book is a Notebook Therapy Tsuki 160GSM bullet journal in Mint Matcha - it has gorgeous gold edges on its pages, and even though it wasn’t intentional, I like that it looks right at home next to my first journal for the year, which was also green!

Spreads & Pages In This Layout:

Future log - I’ve added July in here even though that month is technically already covered in my last book, but I thought this radial layout worked best with six months instead of five - for balance. This is where all future important dates go so I can refer back as I set up each month.

Goals page - a MUST for any fresh notebook! I love having this mid-year chance to check in and reassess my goals. It’s OK if goals change with time! I’ve got them divided into four categories - personal, business, financial and Butter (which is the name of my other business!)

Grid spacing guide - if I’m being honest, I don’t use this page much - but I do flip back to it when I can’t remember how many spaces to the centre of the page or similar! The beginning of a book doesn’t feel complete without this one.

Contents page - I don’t use it much besides adding on my new monthly chapters as they come, but I imagine I might use my contents pages in the future if I’m looking for something specific in an old journal.

Reading log - I actually set this page up later so it’s not in the Plan With Me video - I go through reading phases and not-reading phases, and I didn’t think I could fill a whole page in my first journal for this year… but I am nearly there! So a fresh one for book two it is. I won’t move into this one until I fill up the previous book’s reading tracker.

What’s NOT in this layout? I haven’t brought my spending, savings or social media trackers forward because I want ALL that data in on place for the whole year. I do most of my journaling at my desk in my home office, so it’s pretty easy for me to just grab my old journal from my desk drawer at the beginning of each month and note down the information that I need.

Stationery & Supplies I Used:

I’m using a Notebook Therapy Tsuki 160GSM bullet journal in Mint Matcha for my second 2021 journal from August to December.

The bold black lines and heading lettering was done with the not-brush end of the *black Tombow dual brush pen

The colours are all Tombows - *623 (lavender), *533 (peacock blue), *991 (light ochre) and *192 (asparagus green).

I’ve used Bic Intensity fineliners* for all my fineliner needs in this layout.
