October 2021 - Halloween Bullet Journal Theme
Tis the spooky season - one of my favourite times of year! My birthday is in October, and even though Halloween isn’t really a “thing” here in Australia, I’ve always thought it seems like so much fun.
My theme for October is Halloween-inspired, but not super in-your-face about it - just some mysterious clouds, moons, and the gorgeous shine of some metallic pens and a few of my Washi Tape Shop haul goodies.
Pages and Spreads in this Layout:
Cover page - I saw this particular dark purple Tombow dual brush pen when I was grabbing some new colours for August, and I thought straight away “wow, that would look great with gold, like a moon and clouds kind of thing.” Hence this entire theme!
October 2021 calendar page - A classic layout for me - the sideways calendar is one I always come back to when I want a single page calendar.
Gratitude & goals page - Oh my goodness, have I finally varied my gratitude log?! I didn’t want my goals to go by the wayside this month (something about spring always has me feeling more motivated - yes it’s spring here in Australia) so I’ve incorporated the goals and gratitude log into one page. I’ll still track my mood with colours rather than drawing lines of various lengths!
Habits & mood tracker - As much as 31 cute clouds in different colours would have been ADORABLE, in the interests of ending up with an even number of pages for the month I condensed the mood and habit trackers into one page.
Phone & sleep tracker - I saw this layout on @veronicajournals Instagram and thought it would be a great way to maximise the space on this page! I had never really thought about tracking my phone usage so it will be interesting to see how it goes - I have a feeling I’ll be a little appalled!
Spending tracker - She never changes, this page - but when a layout works, it works!
Halloween Bullet Journal Pages
Playlist & movies pages - I’ve never done these before! I can’t see myself including playlists month-to-month, because I listen to a lot of the same stuff each month! But with the wonderful event that is Halloween, and so many great spooky songs out there, I thought it was time. I made a playlist of these songs on Spotify in case you’d like to listen, and I’ll keep adding to it throughout October!
Michael Jackson - Thriller | Truly a Halloween necessity
Gyroscope - Beware Wolf | An iconic Aussie band for me, this track was one of my high school go-to car singalongs in 2005!
Vaudeville Smash - Ghouls | My all-time fav band Vaudeville Smash have a whole EP perfect for Halloween. It’s called V-Grade Horror, and each song is themed around a different horror creature; werewolves, vampires, zombies, and this track Ghouls. Vaudeville Smash are an Aussie band and I really wish more people knew about them - their live show is electric and has to be experienced to be believed!
BIGBANG - Monster | When I first discovered K-Pop in 2012, this song was HUGE. It’s still iconic to me!
Rob Zombie - Dragula | Another icon of my high school days, this song bizarrely keeps popping up set to various k-pop choreographies in the present day. Perfect for head banging in a zombie costume!
Faker - Teenage Werewolf | Halloween but make it romantic. Another of my old fav Aussie rock acts from the early 2000s!
And the movies are my favourite Halloween appropriate flicks - Hocus Pocus, Casper, the Addams Family, Gremlins, Practical Magic and the Craft. I’m really not a horror movie kind of girl, so they’re all a bit more family-friendly, and all from the 80s and 90s, just like me! I’m hoping to get to watch all of these flicks in October!
Weekly spreads - By this point I was a little over the clouds, and I had all these gorgeous washi tapes at my disposal so it was time to try layering them up! I really love a low-effort weekly, and this is certainly a low-effort weekly. Events on the left page, running to-do list on the right and washi on the outsides. Positively dreamy!
