Introducing: The Giveaway Journal | 2024 New Journal Setup

I’m so excited to announce my new project - the Giveaway Journal! This little beauty is a fully set up, ready to use journal spanning the beginning of 2024 until June, and I’m giving it away to a lucky winner for them to use as their own journal! Check out the video below to find out how to enter the giveaway - and to watch this journal come to life. I’ll be posting each monthly setup through the next six months too, so keep an eye out!

Why am I doing this? A few reasons, actually! One is that I’m challenging myself to use paint in all my own journal setups for the first half of 2024, but I know a lot of my lovely subscribers come to me for collage inspiration - this way I can give you both! Another is that I simply have more stationery than I know what to do with, and this is a way to use some of it up, get it out of my collection and make sure it’s still enjoyed by someone. And the third reason is that it’s fun, and I love the idea of being able to help someone make some wonderful, solid plans for the start of the new year.

Scroll on to see all the details in this magical setup - it’s full of shiny gold and iridescent corners, fantastic blue tones and fairytale themes! And stick around to the end of the post for links to where I got all the goodies I’ve used to make this setup happen.

Cover Spread

I’m still obsessed with storybook themes - just see my own 2024 journal setup - but I wanted to offer up an easier way to approach them that what I did in my theme, no paint or stamping necessary! This setup uses scrapbooking paper, stickers and PET tape - all of it from JournalSay. Even the numbers are from a roll of PET tape!

Future Log/Calendar Spread

A future log is a place to write down all your upcoming events, birthdays, reminders and more ahead of time. They’re great for those of us who set up a month at a time in our journals - you can note down that thing you have in May when it’s only February, even though your May pages aren’t done yet. This journal is a bit different, since it already has all its pages set up until the end of June, but it would have felt incomplete without a future log so I’ve included one anyway! I’ve also added space for July to December planning here, so our winner can stay on top of things for the rest of the year.

I love a Dutch door to save time - on this spread, I’ve removed part of one of the pages so it reveals decoration layered on the page underneath. That means I can save some time on decorating, but also give the spread a little something extra - Dutch doors always feel like such a novelty!

Goals & MicroGoals Spread | 24 in 2024

The New Year is a natural time to set fresh goals, so a goal page is a must-have! I’ve left lots of room on this page in case our winner wants to break their goals into categories, doodle them, or letter them nice and big! It’s tricky keeping the spaces versatile when you aren’t sure who will end up with the finished product!

The facing page is a fun one - it has space for 24 small goals you’d like to hit in 2024. I like to keep these ones a bit more frivolous, like “try that new Mexican restaurant” or “visit a new city”. When you accomplish each goal you can colour in the space, cross it off, or add the date that you accomplished it.

Budget & Savings Tracker Pages

I’m a huge fan of tracking money and cashflow in my own journal, so I knew I had to include something similar for the Giveaway Journal! However, I’m self-employed with a few different income streams, so my own cashflow tracker is set up specifically for that. I wanted this version to work for anyone, so I’ve adapted it a bit! I’ve set this whole spread up so it could work for the entire year, because I often find that helpful in my own journal.

On the budget page - I’ve set the income section up with four small columns. This way someone who works a salaried job can write down their income weekly, fortnightly, monthly and annually so they know how much money they’re working with in each time frame. Someone with more than one income stream could use each space for a different income stream, over whatever time period they choose.

The spending limits section is flexible too - this is where you can set the maximum you’d like to spend across different categories, over whatever time period you choose. For instance, you could limit dining out to $200 per month. I’ve set this up so there’s space for six items, but you/the winner could divide it into twelve by adding some extra lines in between.

At the bottom of the page, the bills tracker is there for any annual recurring payments so they don’t sneak up on you! You could add them here as you’re charged for them if you don’t already have a place to keep track of them, or go back through your bank or credit card history and find them to add here if you want to be aware of them ahead of time. I recommend transferring this information into monthly setups and weekly setups too, so you’re never caught out!

Then on the right page is my favourite to fill out each month - the savings tracker! I’ve set this up so it has six columns for different savings categories. My bank has a fun feature where I can divide my savings into different buckets already, so when I track my own bank savings I just do it in one big amount, but you could split them up and track them separately on a page like this! For my own purposes, as an example, I track bank savings, stock market investments and retirement savings (which is called Super in Australia).

Flexible “Anything” Spreads

I’m trying to really think “versatility” here - so I’ve included this spread that can function in many ways! It could be a project or assignment tracker for work, university or school, so you can keep track of when things are due. It could be a cute way to track the birthdays of all your favourite people, or the dates of all the concerts you want to go to this year. It could be a place to write your highlights from each month - all the wins and joys and moments you want to tuck away and remember. I actually use a very similar page setup as a long-term content planner for my Youtube channel - the possibilities here really are endless! Again, I’ve included a full year’s worth of space, just in case.

Blank But Decorated Spreads - for Anything I Missed!

I never want to prevent someone from tracking or recording something they want or need to track, so I’ve decorated but left blank two extra spreads in this journal before the January spreads start. How might the winner use these page? I have no idea - but I’m certain they’ll need something I didn’t think of! Some people love to include collections of things like books read or movies watched in their journals, or might need a period or medication or year in pixels tracker. It occurred to me while writing this post that a debt repayment tracker or savings bingo page might help some of us. If nothing else, this space would give our winner room to add a focus word of the year, a quote page or spread, or just add some more decoration and have a great time junk journaling! I’ll be including extra stickers and washi from each of the setups I create for this journal as part of the prize box, so the winner will have plenty to work with!
