March Vintage Celestial Bullet Journal Theme
After a fairly minimal start to the year in my January and February bullet journal setups, I was ready to sink my teeth into something more involved for March. I wanted something maximal, moody, and inspired by the moon—so when I heard that JashiiCorrin’s community was hosting a challenge around the theme Under the Stars, I knew I had to get involved. Check out the video here to watch it all happen, or scroll on for images and explanations!
Crafting the March Cover Spread
I wanted my March heading to be the focal point of the cover spread, and I always have a great time copying fantasy novel fonts into my reading journal, so I thought I’d work with the same idea! After searching for celestial fonts online, I came across Le Tarot and used it as a base, adding my own flourishes to make it even more fun.
For this setup, I worked in my Tiefossi Song Brocade A5 journal, which is my bullet journal for the first half of 2025. I used a Pentel Brush Sign Pen in black for the detailing, as I find it offers the most control over my lines. If you’re interested, I’ve linked all the materials I used at the bottom of this post.
March marks the beginning of autumn here in Australia, so this theme felt like perfect timing. That said, a celestial theme is truly timeless, making it a great choice year-round.
A quote often finds its way onto my cover spreads, and for this one, I chose a Shakespearean line: "It is not in the stars to hold our destiny, but in ourselves." This quote resonates deeply with how I’m trying to live my life in 2025. I hand-lettered it in a modern calligraphy style using the same brush pen as my March header and arranged it across the spread for balance around that heavy right-oriented header.
To create texture, I used washi tape that looks like vintage newspaper ads from Paper Monogatari. By placing strips next to each other and tearing the edges, I made it look like a single aged paper piece. Since the text is small and book-themed, it blends into the design rather than drawing attention away from the celestial elements.
For contrast, I incorporated deep blacks against the bright white of the page. I used a selection of tapes Notebook Therapy’s Lunar Mystery washi tape set. To enhance my lettering, I added broken-line highlights with my well-loved ArrtX gold paint marker. Circle stickers from STICKII, which give off an abstract moon vibe, completed the celestial look.
The March Calendar Spread
My calendar setup follows my usual layout: a grid for the month, but with an extra column on the left side for initials and dates. I originally considered a circular layout to mimic crescent moons but opted for a more straightforward design to save time and effort!
I used my Artistro metallic paint pen with a brush tip for the calendar lines, layered with the trusty Sakura Pigma Micron 03 to add the dates - these pens write well over almost anything!
For decoration, I incorporated silver moon-phase washi tape, more washi from Paper Monogatari to tie into the vintage aesthetic, and additional black and gold celestial elements to maintain consistency across the spreads.
Monthly Goals & Habit Tracker
The left page of my next spread is dedicated to goals and reflections, a format that has worked well for me this year. I divided the page into six sections, alternating between planning spaces and decorations. Each decorated section includes a strip of brown text washi, a black contrast element and moon sticker, all in different combinations.
On the right side, I set up my habit tracker, sticking with six habits—the sweet spot for me. Any more, and it feels overwhelming; any fewer, and I find myself wanting to add more trackers mid-month. This balance ensures I stay consistent while allowing room for flexibility.
Content Planner
I'm a full-time content creator now, which is amazing! But it also means I need to put a lot of effort into planning my content for YouTube - hence my Content Planner spread. Since I post videos to Youtube twice a week, I like to have a box for each video across the month all on one page. This setup allows me to plan out where videos will go, track sponsorships, and manage my time effectively.
I also use Google Calendar for long-term planning, where my content schedule has its own color-coded calendar. Some things shift around before they reach my bullet journal, but by the time they make it to this spread, they’re usually locked in.
Instead of a full calendar, I’m using boxes for each Tuesday and Friday, as those are my usual upload days. I list them as Tuesdays even though, in my time zone, videos technically go live very early on Wednesday mornings—this helps me stay on track and avoid late-night editing marathons!
Weekly Spread
My weekly spreads are where where I’ll do all my day-to-day planning, from to-do lists to event reminders and notes about things I want to remember. My weekly spreads are the ones I use the most, so I always make sure to leave myself plenty of room—though there are definitely weeks when I don’t pick up my journal at all, and I’ve come to terms with that! I’ve only set up the first weekly spread so far - the rest I’ll do on a livestream later in the month.
This weekly layout is similar to the 'Goals, Excited For, and Working On' page from earlier in my setup, except that instead of splitting a single page into three sections, I’ve divided the spread into eight. Somehow, I didn’t realize while setting this up that I wrote 'Saturday' in the 'Sunday' space—I only noticed while editing, and it’s really annoying me! I’ll fix it, but if it bothers you too, just know that it bothers me as well!
To maintain balance across the page, I made sure that each decorative section includes brown, black, and moon-themed elements, distributing them evenly so the spread feels cohesive. I also added gold line details next to each daily header for a little extra flair.
Final Thoughts
This celestial-inspired bullet journal setup for March has been one of my favorites to create. Between the moody blacks, gold highlights, and vintage paper textures, it feels like the perfect mix of magic and organization. If you’re also drawn to celestial themes, I highly recommend trying something similar!
Let me know—what’s your theme for March? Do you prefer minimalist setups, or do you like going all out with layers and textures? Happy journaling!
