February Bullet Journal: Easy, Simple and Cute Pastel Floral theme
Do you have a decorative fallback in your bullet journaling that you lean on when creativity feels a little out of reach? For me, it’s layering floral PET tape over color-coordinated washi tapes—it’s a technique that never fails. I’m bringing it back for February as I set up my journal! Check out the video below, or scroll on for photos!
Lazy Girl’s Fail-Safe Decorating Trick
When I’m not feeling especially creative, I take the pressure off by sticking to my go-to washi-and-floral layering method. For February, I paired a pastel floral PET tape (the Spring Bloom design from The Washi Tape Shop) with solid washi tapes in coordinating peach, pink, and green tones.
Here’s the trick:
Lay down strips of washi tape in varying lengths, overlapping them slightly or aligning their edges.
Trim a section of PET tape, and layer it on top of the washi.
Done! This simple combo never fails!
For my February cover spread, I started with this method but followed my instincts - eventually I had a garland effect across my cover page. I also printed headings for the setup using Canva and my mini thermal printer. Printing those on clear sticker paper makes the text blend beautifully into the page.
Functional & Decorative Pages
Calendar Spread
For the calendar, I kept it simple with 4x4 dot grid boxes and added floral accents around the edges, hugging the contours of the calendar. I wasn’t feeling the heaviness of bold black this time, so I added my lines in green marker to match the colour scheme and keep things feeling lighter.
Motivation Page
For lack of a better term, my motivation page is all about staying on track and staying positive. It includes sections for goals, things I’m looking forward to or excited about, and things I’m working on and trying to improve.
The floral and washi accents are concentrated on the left side, leaving plenty of space for writing.
Habit Tracker
I brought back an old favourite: pre-printed habit tracker grids! These are also printed with my thermal printer, just like the titles, only on white paper instead of transparent paper. I positioned them a bit lower on the page than I probably needed to, this page ended up a bit too bottom-heavy for my liking but it will still function as required! Sometimes I get questions about the thermal prints fading - I haven’t had this happen yet, although I’m sure it will in the future. This white paper is actually supposed to last 20 years though, so it should be fine for a while yet!
Content Planner
As a YouTuber, I really need a space to plan my video content in advance - especially around sponsorships. That’s exactly what this spread is for - it’s kind of a calendar, but it only features spaces for the days I post videos (which is twice a week - hence 8 squares for February). I used a sheet of pastel origami paper cut into 5cm/10-dot-grid squares for each of my eight publishing days in February. The spread is simple but functional, with space for decoration above and below. I got lucky with this one - my origami paper was exactly 15cm x 15cm so it was a very easy calculation!
Routine Spread
This spread is all about refining my routines—a work in progress as I aim to build better habits. I’ve been self-employed for over 12 years now, and I’ve long thrived on the flexibility of it but lately I’ve been craving a bit of structure. The left page is a space to outline my morning and weekly routine for the month (or what I’m aiming for, at least) while the right page serves as a reflection space to help me narrow down what’s working for me and what isn’t.
Weekly Spread
My weeklies are where I spend most of my time in my journal, so I always like to start a new month with the first one already set up. This one’s got lots of room for to-do items, events and reminders, as well as a notes section to balance out the space. I’ll add the rest later - sometimes on a livestream on my channel, and sometimes just as I need them.
Final Thoughts & Item Links
This February setup turned out much cuter than I expected! I’m so glad to have found a balance between functionality and creative expression, even when my motivation was low. My lazy girl layering trick and pre-printed elements really saved me some time too!
