Notebook Therapy Tsuki Bullet Journal Review

It Started With a Notebook Cover….

When I started bullet journaling in 2017, it felt like EVERYONE was using Leuchtturm1917 journals. Dotted notebooks were pretty hard to come by then, so I got a Leuchtturm1917 too. I used them for over three years, and then my lovely friends gave me a stunning Mimco notebook cover for my birthday… and my Leuchtturm wouldn’t fit in it. So began my hunt for a dotted notebook smaller than A5 that would still serve my journaling purposes AND fit my pretty notebook cover!

After being served many an Instagram ad, I ended up checking out Notebook Therapy, and discovered their original size Tsuki notebooks are smaller than A5 at 135mm x 195mm - jackpot! I jumped in and bought two notebooks to use as my 2021 journals, both original size, got started with them in late December, and I haven’t looked back.

This post isn’t sponsored, and I didn’t receive any of the stuff I mention here for free. I bought of all these journals with my own money! I just really like them, and wanted to share.

If reading is not your thing, you can watch my video review below. Otherwise, scroll down to read on and see photos!

What’s So Good about Notebook Therapy Tsuki Journals?

Well, they’re CUTE. They come in adorable pastel colours that look great on your desk, and have a running moon theme throughout all their cover designs - “tsuki” is Japanese for “moon”.

160GSM paper in all their journals means your pens won’t bleed or ghost through the pages (unless you use alcohol based pens. Step away from the Copic markers!). I still like to swatch all my pens in the back of each journal I use, partially to have a quick colour reference and partially to test how they perform on the page. Copics and black Sharpies are the only pens that have bled through the page for me so far.

Free international shipping, regardless of how much you spend. As an Aussie, sometimes it feels like we’re being punished with exorbitant shipping fees for living far away from the rest of the world. Knowing I can get free shipping with Notebook Therapy, even if I only buy one washi tape, feels like I just won a prize.

Not keen on a tiny journal? No worries - I seem to be in the minority there! Besides the original size, which has 128 pages, they also have A5 journals with 176 pages, and B5 journals with 176 pages.

Which Journals did I Buy?

I’m now the proud owner of FOUR Notebook Therapy journals!

Pastel Edition Softcover Bullet Journal

These beauties only come in the original size. I picked the soft cover because I thought it might be easier to wrangle into my notebook cover! Mine is the Mint Matcha colour way, which is a lovely pastel sea foam green with a gold crescent moon embossed on the cover. I used this journal for January through to July 2021.

Tsuki 160GSM Bullet Journal

Again, these journals are available in the original size only. Again, I picked the Mint Matcha colour way, which features a very muted pale green split colour cover, again with the gold embossed moon. This journal is my current book - I’m using it for August through to December 2021.

Sakura Limited Edition Bullet Journal

I got both the “petal pink” (the soft baby pink) colour way in the original size, and the “blush pink” (the mauve-y purple one) colour way in the A5 size.

Notebook Therapy regularly roll out new limited edition collections, and the Sakura collection was for the northern hemisphere’s spring season, celebrating the Japanese cherry blossoms! I got to visit Japan during Sakura season back in 2017 and it was one of the most magical experiences of my life, so this particular collection spoke to my soul! Yes, that means I bought my 2022 journal SUPER early, but I’m OK with that!

How long does it take to get your order?

I can only speak from my own experience here, but I found their website projections to be pretty spot on - they recommend it will take between 9 and 21 days to receive an order in Europe, Oceania or South-East Asia. I placed my last order on May 22nd. On the 31st I got an email informing me my order had shipped, and I received it on June 4 - so it took 13 days total for me to receive my two journals in Brisbane, Australia. A friend of mine bought a journal and a stencil, and the stencil reached her earlier and separately than her journal, so sometimes I guess they ship things in multiple packages.

The Notebook Therapy website states they offer a 30 day guarantee on their products, but there’s no information listed about their return process - it just directs you to email their customer support team. I’ve never had to return an item, so I’m not sure what the process is like, how easy it is, or if there’s any cost to the buyer to return their items.

I love that they look like a stick of dango when they’re all stacked up!

I hope this post helps you come to a decision if you’re tossing up whether or not to buy a Tsuki journal! My journal experience is still limited, but I’m so impressed with the Notebook Therapy books that I don’t anticipate looking elsewhere for quite a while.
