My 2022 New Bullet Journal Set Up
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! And no, I don’t mean Christmas. I look forward to setting up my new journal for the coming year SO much, and having 2022 stretching ahead of us as a blank canvas is so exciting! May it be a more cheerful year than the previous two have been.

Florals for 2022
Floral layouts are always my favourite, and I strayed from that for my initial setup last year but I was keen to get back to flowers to kick off 2022! I had so much fun with my birthday bujo setup that I’ve made my cover page very similar, with a Dutch door cutaway that hugs the edge of the flowers, though the colour palette is very different.
Stationery & Supplies
The journal: Moonbeam journal from the Washi Tape Shop
Craft knife & cutting mat
Sharpie pen fineliner
Faber-Castell Pitt Artist brush pens from the Pastel set (lilac, ice blue and light yellow glaze)
Tombow Dual brush pens: 800 (baby pink), 243 (mint green) and N89 (warm grey)
15cm/6inch ruler
Kneadable eraser
My Essential New Year Bullet Journal Pages
I made the unconventional choice to start my book with a grid spacing page, in order to make it very easy to locate. It comes even before my 2022 cover page! I’ve used different colours to measure out the spacing for my page if I need to divide it into halves, thirds or quarters, as well as adding the numbers for each space on the horizontal and vertical so I don’t need to count them every time.
Then the cover page gives way to my calendar/future log spread, which I’ve left title-less since I feel like a calendar page is pretty self-explanatory!
Goals & Tracker Pages
My next spread covers yearly goals, and a tracker for my social media channels. I’ve added tabs down the side of my spreads to help me find them super quickly in the coming months too! That craft knife is coming in so handy!
I’ve divided my goals page into four sections, so I can group the goals by different areas of my life. Mine will probably be general personal goals, goals specific to my businesses and financial goals, but you might have goals to do with study, school, university, hobbies - anything you like!
The social tracker helps me see if my content planning and strategies are working. I track the opening number of followers I have across my different accounts on January 1, then check in again on the last day of each month to record the new figure. At the end of the year, I can look back and see how much things have grown (or not!)
Savings & Cash Flow Trackers
The next spread is all about finances - which sounds so dry, but it’s actually one of my favourite spreads to fill out month-to-month! I love seeing my savings categories growing, and being able to look back over all my income and spending for the year helps me find holes in my spending habits, and trends over the long-term too. This will be my third year tracking finances like this, and I couldn’t recommend it enough! I made an error on my savings header, which is super irritating - I added the dot for my “i” in the wrong place - but the page will still work fine.
Following this is my reading log. I love reading, and I never want to set a book goal for myself, but I do like seeing how many books I got through over the course of a year. I’ve given myself four columns: what number book it is for the year, author, title and rating. The rating column is new! I’d been marking my favourites in my 2021 reading log, but this way I can give each book a rating and know which ones might deserve a re-read down the track.
In 2021 I only gave myself one page for a reading log, which wasn’t enough, so I’ve expanded it to two for this year.
Lastly, I’ve moved a spread I usually place in the very back of my book into my initial setup - a swatch spread! I love having a place to swatch my pens, in part because it helps me choose colour schemes quickly and easily, but also because the barrel or cap colour of some pens doesn’t always accurately match the ink colour. This way I won’t be swayed by a deceptive cap or barrel and make the wrong pen choice before I jump into a fresh set up!
