March 2023 Bold Floral Bullet Journal Theme

If it’s wrong to be obsessed with your own monthly bujo theme, then I don’t want to be right. My March theme is based around a spectacular floral-with-butterflies PET tape, meaning it’s not just striking and lovely - it’s also super easy to create. I don’t usually lean towards yellows, warm greens or reds too much but I’m loving pushing myself outside my comfort zone - almost as much as I’m loving how effortless PET tape looks in my journal!

Check out my Plan With Me video below to see how every step of this set up came together, or scroll down for more detail photos and links to everything I used.

Cover Spread (Pictured Above)

I wanted CONTRAST for March - and I’ve got it! I started with a bold black box with the word “MARCH” in all caps inside it in metallic green paint marker. Then I used my star PET Morning Dew washi to add the floral accents. The roll of tape comes with little clusters of florals with some small gaps in between them, so I separated some of those clusters and cut right angles into them to allow them to appear like they were exploding from behind the black box.

Calendar Spread (Pictured Below)

I wanted to keep a lot of negative space in my layout this month - that’s the white space with nothing in it - so I kept my calendar super clean with small 4x4 boxes with a gap of one space in between each. I added two vertical black boxes down the sides of the page as a vessel for the PET floral tape to shine.

Goals, Favs & Musings Page

The trick to this setup is to always have some of the black showing through. This time, to save myself some time, I’ve used black paper instead of colouring in a black box with marker. I’ve used upper case letter stamps for my headings, with the same green paint marker from the cover spread.

Spending Log Page

I forgot this page entirely in February - whoops! So I’m making sure it gets its moment in March. I actually messed up the spelling of “spending” and almost forgot the first “N”, but the great thing about making mistakes on black paper is that you can just colour over them with black marker to fix them!

Habits & Mood Tracker Pages

I’ve deviated from my usual thermal-printed habit tracker calendars this month because I wanted to keep some bold black going on this page. I’m not sold on my habit doodles - those were meant to be a dumbbell for exercise, a dollar sign with a cross through it for no spend, a tooth for flossing and a nose to represent my allergy nasal spray in case you were wondering. I think the concept is cute but I could have executed it better! Next time I might just stick to text.

The mood tracker is a fun one - I often set up a doodle-a-day style mood tracker but this one is extra fun because of the black spaces that I’ll decorate with a white paint or gel pen.

Content Planner Spread

I couldn’t be without this spread - my content planner always has heaps of space to write in each box because I’m forever balancing content across four different accounts and several platforms. I did forget to add a signifier for the day of the week though - so just trust me that I’ve set it up to start on Mondays!

Weekly Spread - The First One, Anyway

I tried to get a bit fancy on this one by incorporating the PET tape “behind” the weekly boxes. I like it but it was a bit tricky - I’ll need to be careful what I do on the opposite side of that right page, since my craft knife has sliced through the page as well as the tape in a few spots!
